Under minimal supervision, investigates, evaluates and resolves property claims involving damage of moderate to complex exposure.
A four-year college degree or equivalent job-related experience.
5 years claims experience.
Requires an advanced knowledge of property construction.
Experience writing structural damage estimates using computerized software applications preferred.
Knowledge of State Fair Claims Practice Acts.
Knowledge of generally accepted loss reserving practices.
Must be able to carry, manipulate and climb ladders, balance at various heights,
stoop, bend and/or crawl to inspect structures.
Must be able to work outside in all temperatures and inspect property physically and visually.
General computer knowledge, including Word and Excel programs; Xactimate required.
Knowledge and practical experience with computing estimating systems.
Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to multi-task and adapt to a changing environment. Strong organization
and time management skills essential.
Discretion and judgment in determining negligence and evaluation of fair value of
claims.
Must be able to travel overnight as job requires.
Professional appearance and attitude.
Verifies coverage and identifies potential exposures and coverage issues.
Investigate, analyze, evaluate and settle insurance claims involving property
damage losses.
Deliver exceptional customer service through professional and timely
communication including telephone, email and written correspondence.
Determine value of a claim and negotiate settlements within prescribed limits of
authority, in accordance with established procedures, contractual obligations and
all state regulatory requirements.
Reviews appraisals for settlements.
Identifies subrogation possibilities and handles salvage disposal.
Claims inventory complexity will range from basic claims to complex and high
exposure claims, depending on experience level and proven abilities.
Potential travel to neighboring states to offer claims support.
May be on-call. Extended and/or non-standard hours as required.
