Policy Services Intern

Job Summary

The Policy Services Intern will work directly with the Policy Services and Underwriting Departments to gain skills and knowledge of the insurance industry. They will review new auto, home, and umbrella policies for completeness and accuracy by ensuring policies have the required forms and signatures. They will update policies based on information supplied by agents. This position will answer phone calls from both customers and agents through a rotating phone queue.


•Currently pursuing a degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or similar major preferred

•Must be able to commit to working 20 hours per week

•Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

•Strong customer service and phone contact skills

•Must be detail oriented and able to multi-task

•Excellent verbal and written communication skills

•Works well in a team environment

•Proficient mathematical ability

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

•Screens new policies to ensure all underwriting requirements are met.

•Reviews and processes tasks generated from an internal policy administration system.

•Contacts agents via phone and email for information regarding changes and applications.

•Responsible for answering incoming calls to the Policy Services Queue to assist agents and customers with inquiries on new quotes and existing policy coverages and questions.

•Works special projects as assigned to ensure accurate rates and discounts on policies.

•Acts as a backup to the receptionist, serving in a rotation during the week.

•Assists in preparation, review, and analysis of various reports.
